The Internet Service builds on the Access and Collaboration Services to provide Internet access with university-level speeds at an affordable cost.

This Internet Service is at a speed of one gigabit per second. To set this in context, schools connecting through this service will have the fastest Internet connection of any school in the Southern Hemisphere.

UQSchoolsNet helps provide predictability of Internet costs for schools. The service provides the ability for schools to set a daily ‘cap’ or limit on the amount that can be downloaded at this very high speed, and once the cap is reached Internet access continues at a slower speed service. The speed of this connection is still similar to those of some of the fastest connected schools today.

This helps schools have a predictable cost for the service whilst still accessing the internet at very high speed. Better still, unlike many ISPs, there are no charges for uploads on UQSchoolsNet, nor for traffic that is part of the Collaboration Service.
